Van Gogh & Japan

// Plot_Synopsis

One cannot fully understand Vincent van Gogh without understanding his obsession with Japanese art.

During his life in Paris, van Gogh completely fell under the spell of Japanese culture, which saw him move to the South of France, where he believed he would be closer to his dream land. Having never visited the country, the post-impressionist master was nonetheless profoundly influenced by the aesthetics and philosophies of Japanese prints. He visited Japanese art galleries, and extensively researched and collected artworks that inspired his new creative direction.

The film journeys through The Netherlands, France, and Japan, to explore the fascinating relationship between van Gogh and the exotic Japanese heritage.
